Extremely Unique And Extremely Old Bangor Souvenir
Could you picture a hotel key from the Penobscot Exchange Hotel hanging on your wall?
It must be well over a hundred years old, and maybe even much older.
When the item was shared to the Facebook group, my thought was that would be cool to own as a rare and probably exclusive bit of Bangor memorabilia.
The Penobscot Exchange Hotel was opened in 1829, as a home for the traveler, as a gathering place for the local residents, and as a place for all festive occasions in the community.
Bangor had become a city 5 years earlier in 1824. Maine had only been a state for 9 years when the hotel was erected.
An interesting conversation piece that would look good, and be an instant conversation starter anywhere that it ends up.
A most unusual item that is currently for sale.
The comments on the You Knew You Grew up In Bangor Facebook page are positive.
Wow that is a cool find
My parents honeymooned there. Dad home for leave.
I love it. Great history right there.
But she kept the hotel key. Slipped it in her purse I guess it makes her think of me. We both know we can't open that door no more, but she kept the hotel key. - Old Dominion
