Most schools in Eastern Maine will be done with classes the week of June 15th, so to celebrate the official beginning of summer vacation, the folks from the Bangor Parks & Recreation Department have teamed up with Waterfront Concerts to offer a free "movie in the park" at the Maine Savings Amphitheater.

The date has been set for Friday, June 19th, and the movie has been picked.

Organizers say this is a movie for all ages, not just kids, and that adults will enjoy this one, too. The free movie is open to all members of the public who want to check it out, not just to Bangor residents.

The amphitheater will open half an hour before the movie starts, so at 6 PM.

This should give people enough time to find a spot and grab some snacks from the concession stands, which will also be open.

The movie is scheduled to start at 6:30 PM and finish around 8:45 PM.

You should know that if you plan to attend, you cannot bring any food, beverages, or lawn chairs into the venue. You can, however, bring a blanket and sit upon the pavilion lawn to watch the show. (You may also want some bug spray.)

The Maine Savings Amphitheater is a cashless venue, so you'll want to bring your debit or credit cards along for snacks and drinks.

If the weather does not cooperate on the date in June, they have a backup planned and will make those details available at a later date.

For now, if you'd like more information about the Free Movie or any of the other summer programs the Bangor Parks and Rec Department is offering, you can click on their official website, here.

What a fun way to kick off vacation, as a family.
