Much of Maine is under threat of strong winds with the possibility of an isolated tornado Wednesday.

The National Weather Service in Caribou is warning that today's storms have a probability of becoming severe. Bangor and areas north are under an Elevated Thunderstorm Wind Risk late today into this evening. These areas could see wind gusts topping 58 MPH or more at times.

There's a chance today's storms could form an isolated tornado. North of Millinocket has an elevated risk of tornado producing storms, while the Bangor area has a limited risk.

Residents should prepare for the potential for power outages in their area. To report a power outage, downed line or other power emergency, call 1-855-EMERA-11 or (207) 973-2000. You can also report an outage online with the Emera Power Issue Report Form.
