With everything going on lately, like job loss and the COVID-19 pandemic, quite a few families in our area are in need of food.  Here's a pretty cool opportunity for them to pick up some free, farm fresh stuff, grown right here in Maine.

Made possible through a partnership between the Good Shepard Food Bank of Maine and Bangor Housing, those in need can pick up a free, 30 lbs. box of food this Wednesday, September 30th.

Now the really cool thing about this, besides helping out your neighbors in need with free food, is that all items are locally sourced and produced right here in Maine.  The boxes may contain meat, dairy, and produce from Native Maine Produce and Specialty Foods of Westbrook, a leading food distributor, Pineland Farms in New Gloucester, a 5000 acre working farm, and Jordan's Farms of Cape Elizabeth.

Each box will contain approximately 30 lbs. of food, and you can "drive thru" the Bangor Housing Community Center parking lot at 161 Davis Road in Bangor and pick one up, this Wednesday between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.

There are no eligibility requirements.  You can pick up a box for someone else who cannot make it to this this event. Take a box home and share it with your neighbors!

Please call Renee Butler at Bangor Housing before Wednesday, at 404-4519, and order your free food box.

Not only does this event help out those in need but it supports Maine farmers, with the production of these United States Department of Agriculture "Farmers to Families Food Boxes."
