If you have a veteran in your life, and they need community support for some issues, today is your/their day.

UMA Bangor and the Greater Bangor Maine Military & Community Network is hosting a Resource Fair today, May 25th at UMA Eastport Hall, which is at 128 Texas Avenue in Bangor.  The event runs between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Local agencies will be on hand to meet with veterans and family members to discuss veteran benefits and resources in the Bangor region.

This event is free and open to the public and food will be provided.

Maybe you know of a veteran who could benefit from this information. And also know, that at the very least, this might be an afternoon of socialization and interaction with others that could be labeled ‘priceless’

So often, just getting out of the house and having the opportunity to chat about issues they may be keeping to themselves is beneficial.

There is a way to zoon into the event if attending in person wouldn’t be an option.  Here’s the link.

There will be, between 15 and 20 agencies on hand for the afternoon.

Jeffrey Sychterz, Dean of UMA Bangor shared:

It is a diverse group, providing everything from employment assistance and mental health counselling, to substance abuse intervention, and free recreational services, such as fly fishing and camping.

We will have on hand some of the most recognized veteran service organizations, such as the VA, the Maine Bureau of Veteran Services, and Northern Light Health, but also Maine-grown organizations such as Salute to Service, which provides veterans with service dog training and certification and Better Life Partners, which provides individualized treatment plans for substance abuse disorder.

The event is today, Wednesday, May 25th and if you can think of a veteran who might benefit, even from an afternoon out of the house socializing, pass along the word.
