Talk about your "Road Trip Worthy" events the Rockland Lobster Festival is definitely one for the books. This year marks the 72nd Maine Lobster Festival and it actually got underway yesterday but good news matey you haven't missed it because it runs through Sunday.

If you are ready to head down today there is a  Vines and Steins event at 3:30 Thursday admission is $25.00. As for the rest of the grounds  if you dress up as a pirate today admission to the festival is free.

The big days of course be this weekend with a full schedule kicking off with a parade on Saturday morning. Also on the docket are of pirate ship tours, live music shows,midway, cod fish carry and crate races, vendors and of course lots and lots of lobster. What is your pleasure, boiled lobster, lobster rolls, lobster caesar salads, lobster wraps, lobster mac-n-cheese they'll have it all plus a  blueberry pancakes breakfast everyday.

For Friday and Saturday regular admission is adults, $8 (12 and older); children 6-11 years old, $2, children under 5 years old get in for free. Ride bands or tickets are separate.

Sunday, is their Hometown and Family Fun Day. Featuring the Festival’s children’s events, including the internationally-renowned Great Crate Race at Rockland Harbor and admission on Sunday is free for everyone.

Rockland's Harbor Park is the location for most of the goings on and there is a free shuttle that runs from parking to the events.  Since its inception in 1947, the festival has donated over $500,000 to Midcoast Maine communities.
