Here Are 5 Golf Courses In Eastern Maine And Approximately When They’ll Open This Season…Weather Permitting!
When it comes to golfing in Maine, we're lucky to have quite a few options or places to play.
Here are 5 spots in Eastern Maine where you can enjoy a round of golf, and approximately when they open for the 2026 season...if the weather cooperates.
(We know we're dealing with ballpark approximations, but hey, there's hope on the horizon, right?!)

1.) Hermon Meadow
Over at Hermon Meadow, located just off the Billings Road in Hermon, they already opened for the season on April 10th and are ready for those who want to play.
2.) Bangor Muni
While The Bangor Municipal Golf Course website still says they're closed for the season, Rob Jarvis, Golf Course Head at Bangor Muni says they're just waiting on the weather. (That could take a little longer than we'd want, as we did just get an inch of rain over the weekend and some snow earlier today.)

"We had sunny and 70 two days ago, 1" of rain yesterday, and now this... The good news is things are really greening up and looking great. The bad news is yesterday set us back some. We know everyone is anxious..we are too..but it has got to dry out some before we can open for play. Hopefully we know more in a couple of days. Hang in there folks."
Folks in the area can keep an eye out for any opening updates on the Bangor Muni Facebook Page.
You can find out more information on times and membership pricing by checking out their website.

3.) Lucerne Golf Club
Located right in Holden, on 16 Sunset Rd, the Lucerne Golf Club was designed by Donald Ross and established back in 1926. Management there is hoping to open by the end of this week. They say they're just waiting for things to dry up just a little bit more, but they're keeping an eye out to see how things shape up for Friday.
4.) Penobscot Valley Country Club
The folks who own the Lucerne Golf Club now also own the Penobscot Valley Country Club in Orono. They purchased the place last year and have been busy making some great changes to the place (including the addition of a new restaurant, soon to open, upstairs. More on that to come.) They hope to also open PVCC by the end of this week, if the weather cooperates.
5.) Kebo Valley Golf Club
The 8th oldest golf club in the nation, dating back to 1888, the Kebo Valley Golf Club is a fan-favorite of many in the Pine Tree state. Situated on the Eagle Lake Road in Bar Harbor, the folks at Kebo (as many call it) have been busy making upgrades and prepping the greens for players. They just a fleet of brand new golf carts in.
While the course isn't quite ready yet, you can start to work on your swing with their simulators until the greens are ready to go.
