Got A Kid Who Likes Trains? Have We Got A Fun Event For You!
Robert Youngblood
Train fans both young and old will want to head to Ellsworth this coming weekend for a unique opportunity.
The Downeast Scenic Railroad is hosting a Touch-a-train event this Saturday morning.
According to their Faceook Page, along with taking a caboose hop, train lovers will get to do some pretty neat things.
"You'll get to ring the locomotive bell, tour an active steam train restoration, and blow a steam train whistle, and even receive $2 off our 1:30 pm train ride! "
The event will take place at the Washington Junction Yard, located at 8 Railroad Siding Road in Hancock from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM.

Speaking from experience, I can tell you the ride alone is worth the trip and ticket. I took my son on the railroad's inaugural run back in 2010, and he had such a great time.
The conductors were very knowledgeable and to experience such a different view from the rails was really neat.
Plus, as their Facebook page also states, there's a good chance you could spy some wildlife along the way.
"We've seen a wide variety of wildlife on our excursions, like turtles, osprey, beavers, bald eagles, and more!"
The ride usually takes just under 2 hours to complete. You can find out more on their website, by clicking here.
