If you have a heart for dogs and people this might just be a good fit for you.

Working with Guiding Eyes as a puppy raiser you will raise a puppy for about a year to 21 months and then that pup will go back to them to become a seeing eye dog for a blind person.  While you have your puppy the organization will cover vet bills and training. They will also train you to give your pup the foundation he or she needs to become an excellent guide dog.

One of the biggest rubs no doubt is letting your student pup move on to be a blessing and help to a blind individual.  A staffer for the non-profit says that when you see you dog come full circle and help a disabled person the reward becomes very real.

According to the story on WABI Guiding Eyes in Maine has locations in Belfast and Portland.

This is a great story of puppy raisers. Even though this is a different group I think the story must be the same.

Here was a graduation from this year.
