Heads Up If You’re Heading To Hampden: Emerson Mill Rd. Closure

It's no secret; Spring in Maine is synonymous with a couple of things; potholes and road work.

Turn down any Maine road once the ice melts, and you'll likely find a road crew of some sort doing some kind of repair. Cones and caution signs become a thing of the norm.

For some reason, it seems that in the last few years, Hampden in particular has become a hotbed of road repair activity. And this year is no different. Take Route 69, for instance. That's one stretch that's got at least 3 different sections under construction.

This week, there will be even more being done in town, and for some, this could have an impact on their commute.

According to the Town Of Hampden Maine's Facebook Page, the closures will really only affect those who travel the road in the evening and overnight.

"Cianbro plans to close down the road nightly as needed between May 31st and June 4th to set girders, install diaphragms, and install shielding. These closures will begin at 7:00 PM and open back up at 5:00 AM. The message boards on either side of the bridge will be updated daily if a night road closure will be occurring."

So do take caution if you're one of those people (we've all done it) who tend to use Emerson Mill Rd as a shortcut; that option won't be available during the overnights this week. You'll have to find another way.

The town did go on to thank folks for their patience and understanding during the duration of the project.
