Authorities Shut Down Part of Route 2 In Hermon Following Serious Crash Monday
Authorities are at the scene of what they're calling a "serious" crash on Route 2 and the New Boston Road in Hermon this afternoon.
The Penobscot County Sheriff's Office issued a statement Monday, just after 3 PM, alerting motorists to find an alternate route.
"The Sheriff's Office and Hermon Fire Department are on the scene of a serious traffic crash. The crash is in the area of Route 2 and New Boston Road. Traffic is being diverted, and motorists are encouraged to find other routes of travel as Route 2 will be closed for a period of time."
It appears that at least one of the vehicles involved was a bucket truck.
At last check, traffic in the area of The Shop Inc., an automotive repair center in Hermon, and the Seventh Day Adventist Bangor Church on Route 2 was still backed up.
No word yet on the conditions of the people involved. Authorities have called for a team to reconstruct the crash.
We will update the story as officials release details.
