Hey Bangor! Here are the slogans you found most memorable
They're the words that make a company stand out from the rest. A great slogan can sear itself into the subconscious of a consumer better than other tool, when it comes to advertising.
Here in Maine, we have no shortage of amusing and clever catch phrases to help us remember the businesses around us. Here are a few of our favorites.
Earlier this spring, JStew was telling me all about how much he loves his firewood guy and recommended I give him a call. So I looked him up on Facebook and almost did a spit-take. The company is Jay Shay Firewood, and their slogan is "We've got the hardest wood in Maine!" That reminded me of a couple other tongue-in-cheek slogans I've seen from some local businesses. Twin City Tire has their "You're only as safe as your rubber." And there's a local paving company that has the slogan "Get laid by the best" painted on the side of their trucks. Those are some that have definitely stuck with me.
We asked you to share your favorites and you did not disappoint!
Caller #1 My Uncle was a butcher. He owned his own shop in Sherman. On his business cards he had printed "You can't beat Jimmy's meat!"
Caller#2 I used to work construction for this company, Cashly Builders. Their slogan was " Erection Specialists: We get it up in a hurry."
Brett Slater “Just direct-a your feetza to Daddy Green’s Pizza.” From the 80s movie The Last Dragon. Fictional, but brilliant.
Brian Bent You have that Oxadol sparkle.
Suzi Fleming Leeman “Pop pop; fizz fizz; oh what a relief it is” Alka Seltzer
Ryan McLaughlin Once you put my meat in your mouth you’re going to want to swallow! Little bbq place I can’t remember the name but the slogan stuck with me
Kris Currier Blow Brothers, “We're No. 1 in the No. 2 business.”
Kari Jo Davis I don't know if this would be a slogan...I love that it's a Maine thing to say wicked awesome. Reny's uses it somehow, I can't for the life of me remember their slogan.. I'll have to look it up.
Steve There's a place over on the Perry Rd. that makes Hydraulic hoses, for construction equipment and stuff, and their sign outside used to say "Best Place In Bangor To Take A Leak."
Richard Browning There was a machine shop in Wolcott CT named Perfection Screw.
Zachary Robbins "Whatever you do between the sheets, Sealy supports you."
Dennis Bean "They've got the sharpest pencil in town!"
