Horse Euthanized At Scene Of Bradford Crash Involving A Buggy And An SUV
The Maine State Police are investigating a crash involving a horse and buggy and an SUV in Bradford early Friday morning.
State Police Spokeswoman Shannon Moss says troopers were called the the Main Road in Bradford just after 7:30 AM.
"The initial investigation indicates the driver of a white 2017 Ford SUV was traveling southbound and attempted to pass the horse and buggy when another vehicle was approaching from the opposite direction. To avoid that vehicle the driver of the SUV, 28-year-old Kendra Page of Bradford tried to wedge between the horse and buggy to avoid hitting the car. Page didn’t have enough room and struck the buggy from behind."
Moss says 3 people were thrown from the buggy during the crash and the horse suffered fatal injuries and had to be put down on site. The driver of the SUV was also injured.
The Bradford Fire Department issued a statement Friday thanking members of the Charleston Fire Department, Mayo Ambulance, Maine State Police and for some good samaritans who stopped to help direct traffic and tend to the injured.
"Our medical personnel began treating patients and fire crews worked on shutting the road down to secure the area. May ambulance transported 4 patients from the scene."
Moss says the crash remains under investigation.
