Authorities Searching For Missing Person In Clinton, Maine, Unearth Human Remains In A Nearby Field
The search for a missing person in Clinton resulted in the grim discovery of human remains Tuesday morning, authorities say.
Maine Department of Public Safety Spokesperson Shannon Moss says Maine State Police joined the search, alongside the Clinton Police Department, for a person who had gone missing from that town. That's when authorities came across the remains at a site around 11:30 AM.
"Maine State Police, assisting the Clinton Police Department with a missing person investigation, discovered human remains in a field off Route 100 in Clinton. The remains have been transported to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta for identification and to determine the cause and manner of death."

It's unknown at this time whether this search was for someone who had recently gone missing or someone authorities have been looking for for some time.

Once the remains have been identified and the next of kin notified, they will likely release more information, but Moss says at the moment, while the matter is still being investigated, authorities will not release any further details.
