I-395 Wilson Street Bridge Ramps To Close Tonight & Tuesday Night
Be forewarned, the I-395 ramps that travel beneath the Wilson Street Bridge construction in Brewer will be closed both tonight and Tuesday night.
The Maine Department of Transportation tells us that crews will be out during the overnight tonight and Tuesday night replacing structural steel, which will require certain ramp closures.
The I-395 ramps that travel under the bridge will be closed to traffic from 9:00 p.m. on Monday, April 12th to 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 13th and then again from 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 13th to 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 14th.
There will be detour signs directing you how to get onto I-395 westbound via Route 1A that you can follow, or you can attempt to read this from a MDOT press release.
Traffic that normally uses the ramp from Wilson Street/Route 1A westbound to I-395 westbound will be detoured west along Wilson Street, go left to Parkway South, and then go right to the I-395 westbound on-ramp. Traffic that normally uses the ramp from I-395 eastbound to Wilson Street/Route 1A westbound will be detoured from I-395 to Exit 5, go right on Parkway South, and then go right to Wilson Street.
Got that? Good.
The replacement of the Wilson Street Bridge in Brewer is the first step in constructing the controversial I-395/Route 9 connector. The majority of that work is due to begin this September, and will erase quite a bit of big truck traffic that would normally travel to Holden via Route 1A and then take Route 46 to Route 9.
