I-95 Special Olympics Request-A-Thon 2024
It's become one of our absolute favorite days of the year because we get to break the rules for a great cause and throw caution to the wind for 13 hours!
Coming up this Friday, May 24, JStew and Cori essentially turn the keys of the studio over to you, as we kick off the 4th Annual I-95 Special Olympics Request-a-thon!
We're just gonna move the coffee pot right into the studio, roll up our sleeves, and get ready to rock out the entire day!
Here's the deal: Make a request and for a donation, we'll will play you a song.
REQUEST A SONG + DONATE ONLINE
If you dig deeper and make a bigger donation, we'll play the really obscure stuff; anything and everything goes Friday (with the exception of songs with profanity.)
We'll pass along every red cent collected between the hours of 6 a.m. and 7 p.m. Friday to the Special Olympics of Maine!
Here's How To Request a Song + Donate
You call the studio line at (207) 991-9713, make a request, and give us the amount you're willing to donate...
If you can't call in, there are other ways you can donate, including making an online donation through this secure website the Special Olympics of Maine has set up just for this event. Just click here to make your request and give your donation.
And new this year, you can actually make a payment and request through VENMO. Just search Special Olympics Maine under Charities (@SOMAINE). When you donate, make sure your donation and request are both public so we can see what song you want, and add your donation to our tally!
You can even stop by our studio at 49 Acme Road in Brewer (like Steve did) and drop off your donation and make your request in person!
And we promise the money is going to a fantastic cause!
We started this tradition 3 years ago, when Josh Ewing, the representative of the Maine Law Enforcement Torch Run (you probably know them best as the law enforcement officers who run the state, carrying the Flame of Hope to the Opening Ceremonies of local Special Olympics Events) approached us with the idea.
Ewing asked if we would help in the effort to raise money for our local Special Olympics Programs. And there was no way we were gonna pass up this opportunity to use our airwaves for good!
We couldn't think of a better way to kick off summer and the Memorial Day weekend then by playing your requests and collecting as much money as we possibly can for this awesome cause!
Throughout the day, they'll have Law Enforcement Officers and Special Olympians on the air with us, and manning the phones as you call in to make your donations.
Then we do what we do best: play fabulous songs and crack terrible jokes!
And they'd do what they do best: be helpful, supportive, and awesome.
And then you could get in on the action and do what you do best: listen, donate and share the love!
With this winning formula, that caters to everyone's wheelhouse, there's no way we won't cross the finish line with heaps of money for an awesome cause!
