Indiana Looks To Name Part Of Highway After John Mellencamp

John Mellencamp is one of rocks favorite sons and the pride of Indianan where he isn’t taking to the road…he IS the Road!

The IndyStar reported today that the Indiana House of Representatives is advancing a resolution to name 16 miles of I-65 in Southern Indiana after homegrown Hoosier himself John Mellencamp. Initial approval last week by lawmakers and another nod on Monday brings the proposal within one more thumbs-up vote by the full House to send the plan to the Senate for consideration.

According to John supporters “His body of work and his actions on behalf of mankind have brought positive attention to Indiana and benefited people throughout the state,” reads the resolution, which was introduced by Rep. Terry Goodin D-Austin.

The action would name the highway through Seymour in Jackson County “John Mellencamp Way
