It's a profession that comes with risk.  It's a line of work where family members wait at home and wonder, if he or she will ever return.

National Police Week is dedicated to the faithful men and women who put their lives on the line everyday, protecting our cities and towns, our property and ourselves.

Over one hundred officers died while at work in this country last year, including one right here in Maine; Somerset County Sheriff's Deputy Eugene Cole.  We've lost one already this year, when Maine State Trooper Ben Campbell was killed on the Interstate.

You can see their faces and find out who they were HERE.

When you need help they will come, and quickly.

So thank a cop, deputy or trooper this week.  It will make their day.
