Since purchasing my first home in 2021, I have started to be much more concerned with the little things happening with the house and yard.

I am sure that this is common with homeowners.

Regardless of what type of property the rental is, most of us don't care much about the little details when we rent.  We're not paying close attention to the chipping paint, the small crack in the foundation, or the critter digging a hole in the yard.

When we purchase a property, all of that changes.

Now, you're looking at every little details.  And, hopefully, you are doing all you can to take care of those little issues.

What Are These Strange Things in My Yard?

When I left my house to drive to work on Wednesday morning, I noticed something strange on my front lawn.

There were several puffy, white, webs dotting the grass and walkway.

I had a feeling that they were not dangerous, but I had no idea what they were.  I took some pictures and, when I had a few spare minutes, I did what any person living in 2025 would do: I uploaded them to Chat GPT and asked the popular AI what they were.

Chat GPT to the Rescue

According to the artificial intelligence, they are webs that were made by a funnel weaving spider.

If you were to look closely, you would see that the spider had wove a 'tunnel' or 'funnel' into the web.  The spiders typically hide in these tunnels while they wait for prey.

Many times, these webs are not all that visible.  Because it had rained the night before, the web got covered in water, making it much easier to spot.

Was Chat GPT Right?

Are those really the webs of the tunnel weaving spider?  Or, was the AI wrong?  What do you think they are?  Let us know by sending us a message in our app.
