Bangor Police say a pedestrian was hit by a car in a busy intersection on Tuesday while chasing an alleged thief.

Bangor, Maine Pedestrian Struck By a Vehicle on Broadway

The name of the pedestrian has not been released, but officials say he is a 32-year-old man.

Officers were called to the intersection of Broadway and State Streets in Bangor at approximately 5:37 p.m. for a report of a pedestrian who had been hit by a vehicle.

The pedestrian told the officers that he was chasing someone across the street who had just stolen his belongings when he was hit by the vehicle.

The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital to be treated for his injuries.

Officials say no charges are expected to be filed.
