The body of a Damariscotta woman was recovered by Maine Warden Service divers from Biscay Pond.

Damariscotta Woman's Body Recovered by Maine Warden Divers from Biscay Pond

Bethany Hancock, 50, of Damariscotta was reported missing by her husband at approximately 6:00 am on Thursday.

The man told authorities that he had last seen her around 10:00 pm the night before and was concerned for her wellbeing when he couldn't locate her in the morning.

Game Wardens and the Damariscotta Police Department began searching for Hancock around the Lincoln County property at approximately 6:30 am.

As they scoured the area, searchers found a swim float mat that was usually tied to the dock.

When they noticed it floating a couple of hundred yards in front of the dock, the search focused on the waters of Biscay Pond.

At first, a preliminary search using boats and a drone was attempted, but with no success.

Damariscotta Woman's Body Found in Biscay Pond by Maine Warden Service Divers

The Maine Warden Service Dive Team then began looking into the pond and found Hancock's body at approximately 4:45 pm.

Officials say her death is not considered suspicious.
