Maine Police to Search Tuesday for Missing Hampden Man

A search will be held Tuesday for a man from Hampden who's been missing since January.

Hampden, Maine Man Has Been Missing Since January

The investigation into the disappearance of Douglas Dunphy, 78, of Hampden, began on January 15, 2026.

Dunphy is a white male, 5'10" tall, 210 pounds, with gray hair, and green eyes.

Due to the facts and circumstances of the cases, the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit was assigned to provide assistance to the Hampden Police Department.

Missing Hampden, Maine Man's Econoline Van was Located But I Sign of Him

Over the past many weeks, these two agencies, with help from the Bangor Police Department and Maine Warden Service have been working on the investigation.

All officials have said about Dunphy's disappearance is that his Econoline van was found, although officials have not released where it was found.

Sadly, Mr. Dunphy has still not been located.

A search of Dunphy's Hampden property was conducted in early February, but there was no report of any sign of him.

New Search of Missing Maine Man's Property This Week

On Tuesday, Maine State Police will once again be searching for signs of Dunphy on the Kennebec Road in Hampden.

Officials say searches of high probability areas are common in missing person cases such as this and there's no known risk to the public.
