Maryland Police are investigating the death of a lawyer from Maine who they say was murdered.

Maine Lawyer and Philantropist Found Shot to Death in a Maryland Senior Apartment

Robert Fuller, Jr., 87, was found deceased in an apartment at the Cogir Potomac Senior Living Facility in Potomac, Maryland, on the morning of Saturday, February 14, 2026.

The Montgomery County Police Department said in a media release that first responders noticed trauma to Mr. Fuller's head and notified the Major Crimes Unit.

Detectives determined that he had been shot and his death was ruled a homicide.

Officials have no suspects and no arrests have been made in this case.

Maine Lawyer Killed in Maryland Was a Philanthropist and Published Author

Robert Fuller, Jr. practiced law in Maine for more than 35 years, according to WGME-TV. He was a senior officer in the Naval Reserve and authored a novel, 'Unnatural Deaths,' which was published in 2009.

He was also known as a philantrophist, making many contributions in the Augusta area, including a $1.64 million gift to improve Cony High School's Alumni Field Complex.

Mr. Fuller had moved to the Washington D.C. area to be closer to his family.

Tips that lead to an arrest may be eligible for a reward from $250 up to $10,000. Those tips can be given anonymously.
