
Maine Ranks Among the Least Fun States in the U.S. for 2026
Our Pine Tree State ranked toward the bottom of this list, according to a recent report highlighting the most fun states.

WalletHub compared all 50 states across 26 indicators to determine which offer the best opportunities for affordable entertainment and recreation.
The study considered factors including outdoor activities, sports, live music, nightlife, movie costs, access to national parks, and family-friendly attractions.

Maine ranked 41st overall in WalletHub’s ranking of the most fun states in America, which compared all 50 states across the categories of entertainment and recreation and nightlife.
Vacationland ranked 37th for entertainment and recreation and 45th for nightlife, despite tying for first in skiing facilities per capita and ranking second in the variety of arts, entertainment and recreation establishments. Maine ranked last, 50th, in state and local expenditures on parks and recreation per capita.

And there you have it! According to this report from WalletHub, Maine ranked in the bottom 10 among states when it comes to having the most fun.
