Maine’s Literacy Tea Fundraiser Will Be in a New Location
Kids of all ages are invited to enjoy tea, refreshments, and fun at a new location for the 2026 Literacy Tea.
Bangor, Maine's Literacy Volunteers Will Once Again Hold the Literacy Tea
The largest fundraising event of the year for Literacy Volunteers of Bangor, the tea has been going on for 55 years.
Generations of parents have taken their children to the same event they attended. This year, however, there's one big difference. But we'll get to that.

First, let's talk about what to expect. Each table has a different children's book theme, such as small buckets of blueberries, stuffed bears, and blue gingham if the inspiration was 'Blueberries for Sal.'

Glenburn, Maine, Native and Author Will Present Her Book at the Literacy Tea
And each year, a Maine author presents their book. This year, it's Glenburn native, Casey W. Robinson, who will read her book 'Small Things Mended,' which tells the story of a man who heals his broken heart by fixing toys for the neighborhood children.
Inspired by the book, organizers of this year's Literacy Tea are holding a 'Doll Hospital' at the tea, so children are encouraged to bring a doll or stuffed animal for a quick brush, stitch, or a band-aid.
Marvin & Sheri Glazier Literacy Tea is Moving Out of Bangor, But Not Far
The big change to this year's Literacy Tea is where it's being held.
The annual event has been at John Bapst Memorial High School for many years, but it's now moving a little farther north.
The 2026 Marvin & Sheri Glazier Literacy Tea will be held on Sunday, March 29th, at Old Town Elementary School, which is right on Stillwater Avenue. It's a beautiful building (I have family members who go there), and the parking will be plentiful.
Tickets are on sale now and, because this is such a popular event, they go quickly. Folks can purchase tickets on the Literacy Volunteers of Bangor website.
