Maryland Police Identify the Suspect as a Caregiver for the Elderly Maine Lawyer
In a press conference on Wednesday, Montgomery County Police in Maryland identified the suspect in the murder as Maurquise Emillo James.
The 22-year-old worked as a medical technician at the Cogir Potomac facility, distributing medications to patients.
He is now charged with first-degree murder for Fuller's death. His motive is unclear, at this point.
WRC-TV in Washington D.C. reports Fuller's partner, who also lived in the apartment, said Maurquise James gave Fuller his medications on the night of February 13, as always, but then he returned later to ask if the meds had kicked in yet.
They said this was not the usual routine and that they were surprised the gunshot didn't wake them up.
James also faces multiple charges, including attempted murder, for allegedly shooting at a Maryland State Trooper during a traffic stop on Tuesday.
Maine Attorney Gave Back to the Augusta Community Before Moving to Maryland
Fuller was a retired Navy Reserve officer, a well-known attorney, and even spent time as the City Manager of Augusta, Maine.
He wrote a novel, 'Unnatural Deaths,' which was published in 2009.

But the millionaire was, perhaps, better known as a philanthropist. Fuller made many contributions in the Augusta area, including a $1.64 million gift to improve Cony High School's Alumni Field Complex on Tuesday.
He and his wife moved to Maryland a few years ago to be closer to her family. After she died, he remained in the Washington, D.C. area.
