A Maine man faces attempted murder and other charges after allegedly setting a bed on fire.

Wiscasset, Maine, Police Responded to a Report of a Fire That Was Intentionally Set

Terry Couture, 41, is facing multiple charges stemming from an incident that occurred on Monday, March 9, 2026.

Wiscasset Police officers responded to 154 Beechnut Hill Road for a report of a fire that had been intentionally set inside a residence.

An investigation into the incident determined that the homeowner, Couture, had allegedly set a bed on fire following a disagreement.

Officials say Couture and his girlfriend were in the bed when it was set on fire.

No serious injuries were reported, and the fire was extinguished.

Terry Couture was arrested and faces the following charges:

  • Attempted murder
  • Arson
  • Aggravated criminal mischief
  • Domestic violence criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon.

This investigation is ongoing.
