Arby’s Returning to Bangor, Maine After 10 Years

Get ready, Bangor! Arby’s is making a comeback!

One of the great guilty pleasures in life, is pigging out on food that maybe isn't so good for you, but take a look around town, and you will always see a line at the Chick-fil-A, or any McDonald's drive-thru.

This got us to thinking, what else would we like to see in the Bangor area? Well, those questions have already been answered!

As you know by now, a Wendy's location is coming soon to 450 Wilson Street, in Brewer, but some big news also dropped, that will have people shouting "We have the meats!"

Arby’s is coming back to Bangor, Maine, at the exact same spot where it was been before. The new location is planned for 57 Bangor Mall Boulevard, near the Bangor Mall, in a vacant, 4,100-square-foot building that will be renovated, rather than built from scratch.

The restaurant will have a drive-through and about 49 parking spaces. The building will also get some updates, such as new curbs, pavement, and upgraded utilities. While the building’s footprint will mostly stay the same, it will get a full makeover as a fresh Arby’s.

The Bangor Planning Board approved the project on February 3rd, but it still needs a traffic permit from the Maine DOT and a few tweaks before construction can start. If all goes smoothly, an opening could happen within a year, or less.

Bangor hasn’t had an Arby’s since the original location, which opened way back in 1983, at the same spot, then closed in 2015 when the longtime owner retired. It will be Bangor's first Arby’s in more than 10 years, ready to serve up those classic roast beef sandwiches once again.

The Queen City won't be the only new Arby's location in Maine however, a new restaurant will also open in Scarborough, along 183 U.S. Route One. That location is expected to be a smaller, mostly drive‑thru‑focused restaurant with takeout and delivery.
