Antique Collector in Maine Turned His Garage Into Service Station

I have driven by a home in Standish dozens and dozens of times without even noticing what was there on the property. First a little backstory about me in the early 1970s.

My father worked at the Texaco gas station in South Paris, Maine before I was born. I remember going to the service station where he would do some work on the cars while I played with toys in the office. He even got me my own Texaco station playset, proudly shown here by 2-year-old Jeff.

I loved that playset and the U-Haul truck I got with it. This is the former Texaco station in South Paris which is now a bank. We always got gas there of course and it was always pumped for us.

Now back to the home in Standish I never noticed until a few years ago. You might think this is a gas station if it weren't for the antique gas pumps serving as the entrance to the driveway.

A four-car garage stands on the left side of the property with old fashioned gas pump between every door and a Gulf sign hanging on the side of the building facing the road.

Hidden a bit behind the nice landscaping is an old tow truck and what might be a VW Bug. I'm not 100% sure about that, but someone may be able to figure out just what kind of car is on that hook.

Beyond the garage is an old-style, round Texaco sign, a Mobil gasoline pump between garage doors on the left, and a small filling station building in the back sporting a sign using the current Texaco logo.

I drove by this so many times not recognizing it was even there, but I'm impressed at the work that was done to make this look so amazing. 2-year-old me with his Texaco playset would be just as amazed as I am today.
