We’re pretty lucky to call such a beautiful state home.

There aren’t many places where you can step outside and be just minutes from incredible natural scenery, but that’s everyday life here in Maine. And now, the rest of the country is starting to recognize just how special and stunning this state really is.

Here is what Thrillest had to say about our beautiful state.

...In addition to possessing some of the most breathtaking coastline in America (with thousands of jagged islands offshore bringing the total mileage of pebbly beach to over 3,000), Maine’s got the gorgeous Acadia National Park, Mount Katahdin (the tip of the Appalachian Trail), and countless acres of dense wilderness and rugged seashore for the L.L. Bean types (it’s basically, like, their uniform up there).

I mean, this basically sums it up nicely, at least for the big stuff.

What Makes Maine Such a Beautiful State?

They could also mention the incredible river system, beautiful islands, gorgeous lakes, massive trail network, historic lighthouses, and charming villages. And honestly, there’s plenty more where that came from.

Even with development seemingly growing out of control in some communities, much of Maine still remains wonderfully remote.

Maine was the only eastern state to make the Top 10, which gives us even more bragging rights. The next highest-ranked eastern state was our New England cousin Vermont, which came in at No. 13.

Thrillist named California the prettiest state, with Alaska coming in a close second. As for the least beautiful state? Sorry Iowa, I guess they aren’t big fans of cornfields.
