Juvenile Arrested for Threats Left on Lisbon High School Walls

Lisbon Police have arrested a juvenile in connection with a pair of threatening messages that were written on the walls of the high school.

The original message was found as graffiti by school officials inside the high school on Tuesday. Police determined that it was without merit, but posted extra officers at Lisbon High School on Wednesday, to convey a sense of well-being for the students, staff, and parents. During the school day on Wednesday, a second threatening message was found inside the school and the decision was made to dismiss students and staff and evacuate the building. Lisbon Police did not believe the threat was genuine but closed the school grounds and called in the Maine State Police Bomb/Explosives Unit, to sweep the building. After an extensive search with bomb-detecting K9's, no devices were found.

Assisting Lisbon Police in this investigation were computer crimes experts from the Maine State Police, Brunswick Police, and the Androscoggin County Sheriff's Office. The United States Secret Service also assisted with investigators and IT representatives.

The result of that investigation was the arrest of a juvenile, who is charged with Terrorizing, a class 'C' Felony. The name of the suspect has not been released because of their age and police have not said whether or not the juvenile was returned to their parents. Lisbon Police have posted extra officers at the high school this week, as a way to reassure anyone still feeling some anxiety about the situation. But, officials say there never was an explosive device and that there was no risk to the school community.
