ORIGINAL STORY: It appears as though Kashi Japanese Steakhouse & Sushi at 469 Stillwater Avenue in Bangor has closed, as customers this past weekend found the door locked and the lights off when the restaurant was supposed to be open.
There was a padlock on the door, and a call to the establishment during regular business hours on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday went to voice mail. The business had just recently posted on Facebook this past Friday.
The restaurant's listing on Yelp lists it as closed.
Attempts to contact the owners -- listed in city records as Pearl Asian Corp., in Portland -- were unsuccessful. There is no indication of the duration of the closure.
Vinnie Maietta, the developer of Stillwater Crossing, which houses the restaurant, said Monday he was unaware of the Kashi's closing. He said the owners had paid January rent.
Maietta said the owners had invested more than $1 million in the property.
The restaurant made its debut in Bangor in August 2017 and featured a variety of Asian cuisine.
