After Touring Gardens Aglow, Chow Down at One of These 7 Maine Spots
Holiday activities always take so much out of you. Even good stress, is still stress. And it's not just all the hustle and bustle of Christmas shopping. Sometimes it's just the amount of time you spend trying to do all the cool things. It may be office parties, or booking travel arrangements for the season, or trying to find cool things to do.
One thing that always helps me and my wife, is if we take a minute to at least look at local places to eat when we go somewhere. There's nothing worse than being starved in a strange town, and having no idea where to go grab a bite.
So let's combine a couple of those things. The Gardens Aglow display at the Maine Botanical Gardens, is easily one of the top holiday attractions in Maine. People come from all over Maine and New England to check it out. So to save you a little trouble, check out this little list of local places you can grab a bite. And honestly, this is just a glimpse at some of what's available nearby.
Maiz - 11 Pleasant Street, Brunswick
Maiz is a local spot featuring what they describe as Colombian street food. The menu feature arepas, and bowls, with sauces of all kinds. Everything on the menu looks delicious, and there looks to be something for everybody. There's a Porltand location too, if you're in the neighborhood.
Nomad Pizza - 14 Main Street, Brunswick
If you're a fan of wood-fired pizza, this might just be your spot. Pizza is usually one of those universal foods people of all ages love. Even the pickiest of eaters can usually get behind a cheese pizza. The Nomad menu features all kinds of fresh ingredients and cured meats. And again, wood-fired... can't go wrong.
Water Street Kitchen - 15 Water Street, Wiscasset
Water Street Kitchen has a mouthwatering menu with all sorts of things from raw bar offerings to traditional Italian items with a modern flair. If you're a fan of pasta and seafood, Water Street will surely fit the bill. After you've done all that walking around, you've likely built up quite the appetite anyhow.
Boathouse Bistro - 12 By-Way, Boothbay Harbor
Having just recently opened up for the holiday season, the B.B. features hearty dishes sure to warm you up after your walk through the winter wonderland. Soups, salads, tapas, seafood, and great looking sandwiches... Everyone you're hanging with will find something that works for them.
Mine Oyster - 16 Wharf Street, Boothbay Harbor
Mine Oyster has a huge menu, full of great Maine seafood. There's definitely some things for the land lovers that might be riding around with you, but seafood is definitely the star. I mean, come on... Oyster is in the name. Whatever you're looking for seafood-wise, you'll have no trouble finding it here.
Newcastle Publick House - 52 Main Street, Newcastle
There's so much to offer at N.P.H. Obviously great food, but there's also live entertainment, but it's all located in the most amazing historic brick building, right n downtown. Delicious soups, salads, seafood, and burgers, all sure to please anyone who walks in.
Burano's - 128 Front Street, Bath
If you're passing through Bath, you can also go to Burano's. They feature their own wood-fired pizza, as well as other Italian specialties. They also have other location in Hallowell and Scarborough, should you find yourself hungry in either of those locations.
Hopefully this will give you several options when you're all done touring Gardens Aglow. Like I said, walking around in cold weather makes you even hungrier than normal, I swear. So maybe this will take the sting out of trying to figure out the whole food thing. Except, now I'm hungry...
And if you don't know what I'm talking about for some reason, scope this video.
