Brace Yourselves: Maine’s Labor Day Weekend Forecast Looks Gloomy
We all just wanna grill some steaks and get a sunburn, right?
Is that so much to ask on a holiday weekend? Not that the weather cares when the holidays are. Heck, all the way on the other end, how many times in recent years have we been robbed of a white Christmas? While it does work both ways, it seems like a kick to the guts to possibly be facing a crappy Labor Day weekend.
While this summer has been a pretty big improvement over last summer weather-wise, it's kind of a letdown to be facing a damp, chilly, rainy Labor Day. It's supposed to be our last hurrah of summer. It's almost a tradition. Everyone knows that Labor Day is the unofficial end of summer, right? This just ain't fair.
Is it going to be a total washout?
Not necessarily. For one thing, it's still the better part of a week away. So there's still plenty of time for things to change a bit. But as we get closer, the ink starts to dry pretty fast. So hopefully, things start to evolve. But currently, it looks like the Bangor area is in for temps in the 70's all three days, with an ongoing threat of showers.
Up in the county... same deal, according to the National Weather Service. Partly sunny, temps in the 70's, with an ongoing threat of showers. So it's one of those things in both places, that it'll be hard to do any solid outdoor planning, because a 50/50 chance for rain doesn't really bode well.
What about the rest of September?
A quick peek at the extended Accuweather forecast, shows that September overall, isn't looking too bad. Looks like temps will be about average. Although, it is scary to watch the slow downward trend over the course of the month. But obviously, fall's on the way, and there isn't much we can do about that.
But as far as Labor Day, you may want to find some cool indoor place to have all your fun. It's always easy to pivot and go outside, but a little more difficult to move an outdoor party to the inside. And you never know, the whole weather pattern could shift and it all works out. Only Mother Nature will decide...
