Mark Your Calendars, Maine: Maple Maple Sunday Will Happen Soon!

Over one hundred sugar shacks across the state are gearing up for what's become a well-loved tradition here in Maine: Maine Maple Sunday!

Maple producers from the top of the state to the bottom open up their sugar houses to give folks an up-close-and-personal look at how maple syrup is made.

We pour it over pancakes and waffles, some drizzle it on ice cream, and others use it instead of sugar in their coffee so it's only fitting that this that gooey 'liquid gold' deliciousness get it's own special celebration. What a tasty way to welcome in Spring!

This year will mark the 43rd year for Maine Maple Sunday, which is actually more of a weekend thing for many sugar shacks, rather than just a day long event.

According to the Maine Maple Sunday website, this weekend typically takes place on the fourth Sunday of each March, but many sugar houses will also be open that Saturday, too.

"The 43rd annual Maine Maple Sunday Weekend in 2026 takes place on March 21–22, with the main celebration occurring on Sunday, March 22. Over 100 sugarhouses statewide open to the public, offering free tours, samples of fresh syrup, maple treats like candy and popcorn, and demonstrations of the sugaring process."

With participating Sugar Houses in every corner of the state, from Biddeford to Eagle Lake, to Colombia Falls and Lincoln Plantation, there's almost certainly a spot or two you could hit up over that weekend.

Many of them will run their tastings and demonstrations both days, from about 11 AM to about for, but it's best to check with the individual producers to find out exactly what their specific hours look like.

Other activities could include Sugarbush tours, syrup-making demonstrations (reverse osmosis, evaporators), taffy-on-the-snow, petting zoos, and live music, depending on which sugar houses you choose to visit.
