
Authorities Say Speed And Lack Of Helmet May Have Contributed To Motorcyclist’s Death In Limerick Monday
Maine State Police say speed and lack of proper head protection may have been contributing factors in the death of a motorcyclist in York County on Monday.

Authorities say that the crash happened on the New Dam Road in Limerick. A trooper came upon the scene at around 7:15 PM and discovered the motorcycle to be in really rough shape. He then found the driver nearby.
"An unresponsive male, later identified as 36-year-old Dustan Moreau of West Newfield, was located a short distance from the motorcycle with serious injuries. Attempts were made by the Trooper to resuscitate Moreau but were unsuccessful. Moreau was pronounced deceased on scene by Limerick EMS."

State Police say that while they are still investigating the crash, they believe speed may have played a part in the crash. Moreau was not wearing a helmet when he approached the corner and slammed into the rock wall.
Earlier this week, an Augusta man was killed and his passenger sent to the hospital when the motorcycle they were riding on crashed into a school bus on Cony Street in Augusta.

Another man died when the motorcycle he was operating crashed into another vehicle that was trying to make a turn, the day after Labor Day in York.
There have already been over 20 motorcycle fatalities in the state of Maine in 2026, with over four deaths reported in August alone.
