Shopping season is about to go into high-gear.

It's funny, you'll see targeted ads all over social media, geared towards the states that all have stores that are open Thanksgiving Day. It's a trend that's been falling a little every year. Ten years ago, Walmart stores all over the country were open on Turkey Day. This year, Walmart is closing on that day for employees to have family time.

Maine of course, has never been open on these days. In fact, Black Friday shopping has become such a tradition, that some families even move their turkey dinners to a much earlier part of the day, so they can get some sleep in before they start going out to line up in front of their favorite Black Friday shopping spot.

However, there's one spot zero Mainers will be shopping at this year.

According to WalletHub.com, who recently put together a list of the Top 10 Black Friday shopping destinations in America, we don't have a single location of what's considered the #2 spot in America for Christmas shopping... Belk department stores. They have dozens of locations across 16 southern states, but not a single Maine location.

Belk stores have been around forever, but never outside of the South. It's actually kind of surprising we haven't had one up here yet, because Belk merged with the parent company of Kohl's some years back. There's obviously a ton of Kohl's locations throughout Maine, so maybe someday?

Either way, we're a little over a week out from one of Maine's biggest shopping days. Like many other Mainers, I'll be on my couch napping. Then come Cyber Monday, I'll show everyone where my true talents lie, in the land of online shopping. No lines, no waiting, no problem.
