Maine Could Get Yet Another Stellar Round of Northern Lights
If you missed last night's dazzling display, you now know what FOMO is.
Remember back in May, there was another crazy, all-out color bomb happening in the skies. Sadly, where I was, it was super cloudy and I couldn't see a dang thing. And last night, I wasn't necessarily keyed in to what was happening in the night sky. A friend texted me and said I should go outside and look up.

I was not totally prepared for how intense it was going to be when I walked out onto my deck. I thought maybe it would be a little bit bright and maybe a streak or two, but instead I saw these amazing colors dancing around the sky above my house. Last night, I'd never been so glad to live out in the sticks, away from all the light pollution.
Social media lit up almost as brightly as the sky.
I started texting friends, family, and neighbors to let them know what I was seeing. And when I cracked open my Facebook app for just a second, I could see that it was boiling over in all forms. Facebook, Reddit, Insta... everybody was going bananas. As a friend pointed out, it was a rare moment where social media kind of redeemed itself for a little while, with everyone collectively sharing the beauty of nature.
No politics, no bull crap... Just people scrambling to let each other know about the gorgeous night sky overhead. And maybe that's what's so great about moments like these. People forget about all that other stuff for two seconds, and just start people-ing with no agenda. It was sooooo nice for a change.
Are there possibly more Northern Lights on the way?
It would seem that the solar flares producing this latest round could possible fire up the engines again over the weekend. Some people are saying Friday night, other sites are saying maybe Saturday. That would be nice because the weather will be more cooperative.
