A man faces charges after police say he forced his way into an occupied home on Second Street in Bangor late Thursday night.

Tayler Cotton, 24, was charged with criminal trespass, criminal mischief, and violating bail. He is described as a transient in the area.

Police say they responded to the home after a neighbor reported reported seeing a man force entry into a nearby residence. The victim was home at the time.

Cotton was then seen leaving the property. Officers converged on the area and located Cotton near Second Street Park.

Video reportedly showed Cotton attempt to gain entry at the back door, before forcing open and damaging the front porch door.

He is being held at Penobscot County Jail.
