The Maine Marine Patrol is investigating the death of an elderly man whose body was found on a Little Deer Isle beach.

Officials say the body of William Lamb of Charlestown, Massachusetts was discovered Tuesday by a family member on a beach near his Lamb's Quarter Lane cottage. Lamb had for a ride in his rowboat on Monday and, when he failed to return, was reported missing by his wife.

The State Medical Examiner's Office in Augusta will conduct an autopsy to determine how he died.
