
Maine Firefighters Find Adult Remains After House Fire In Washington County Sunday
Maine fire officials are investigating the circumstances surrounding a house fire that happened in the Washington County town of Meddybumps this past weekend.
Firefighters responded to a fully engulfed house fire spreading toward a vehicle in the driveway of a home at 624 Main Road on Sunday evening.

"More than a half-dozen fire departments responded, fighting the fire in heavy snow conditions."
According to the Maine Department of Public Safety, state fire investigators were called in just before 6 PM. Several hours after the fire had been extinguished, just before 9 PM, a team from the Maine Fire Marshal's Office found adult human remains inside.
"The victim was removed and transported to a local funeral home, where a representative from the Office of Chief Medical Examiner will work to determine the cause of death and confirm the victim’s identity. State Fire Investigators have returned to the scene today to continue their examination and determine the cause of the fire."
They have not released any information on the cause of death or how they believe the fire started.
