Meet Your ‘Forever Neighbors’ at this Maine Cemetery’s Annual Event
I never even went to my high school reunions...
It's not that I don't like people, because that's not true. But it is true that I'm not necessarily a social person. I'm not usually apt to go to parties, or concerts, or places where there might be big crowds. It's ironic in some ways, because in my former life as a professional musician, the goal was always to have packed houses.

One could also argue that was a work thing. Some things have to be done for work that don't really pertain to your personal life. But what about your afterlife? Would you ever want to meet the crowd you're surrounded by for eternity? Not in the spiritual sense, but in the literal, physical sense? Would you ever want a chance to rub elbows with your "forever neighbors"?
A cemetery in Weld, Maine offers you that chance.
Mountain View Cemetery in Weld holds an annual event every August, where people have a chance to meet the folks they'll be surrounded by until the end of time. Weld is a small town, and all the folks who own plots in Mountain View all seem to know each other quite well, and have been attending these meetings for years.
The only catch, which is quite fitting, is that you have to own a plot in the cemetery to be able to attend the party, according to the Press Herald. Organizers have been putting the event on since 1994, so there's been ample opportunity for folks to get to know each other, if you're a newb. Although, how you feel about each other now, won't matter much then.
Friends and family to the end...
There's one group of folks in particular, that all live on the same street, and all own plots in the cemetery. So they opted to name their street "Mountain View Lane" after the cemetery. That way, they said, their address will never change. And this seems to be the vibe among all the people who come to the meeting... Why not have a little fun with it?

Eventually, Mountain View Cemetery will be full, as they feel they have enough room for about 70 more plots. I know a lot of people don't even think about something like their plot until the last minute, but if you knew you could meet your neighbors and hang with them while you're all still here, why wouldn't you?!
