Just last week, I was telling anyone that would listen, including on my Facebook page, that MTV was showing one, count it...one, hour of music videos at 8:00am on a Saturday morning. I had to laugh, because when I was in high school, MTV was like the radio. It was just on all the time in the background.

But these videos I was watching were so weird, I didn't even know what to make of them. All of a sudden, I felt super old. Hahaha. I figured that must be the same feeling my mom had when she'd come in while I was watching Headbanger's Ball on Saturday nights.

These days MTV is dominated by crappy reality shows, and in my opinion, it just absolutely sucks. And just at a time when I felt like I needed to reconnect with my youth in some critical way, my friend Jim Murphy started this killer Facebook group called 8/1/81 When M Stood For Music.

Basically, a bunch of local folks are posting videos from the glory days of MTV when it was still just trusty old Channel 16 on my Adams-Russell cable box. Back when "super cable" was 31 channels. Back when it was a box on top of the TV that you had manual buttons on, because half of us didn't have a remote control TV.

I've been enjoying the stroll down memory lane. Maybe I'm just feeling sentimental for the old days because life is so bananas right now, not 100% sure. But watching videos that bring me back to the old days of MTV, or Chuck Foster's All Hit Videos, it feels like things are back to normal for a second. I'll take all I can get.

This was the first video I posted in the group. When I was 10, I thought this song was hilarious for some reason. But now, what the heck is this song even about?!
