Houlton Surveillance Video Shows a Missing Miami Boy and his Dad
A missing boy from Miami is thought to be in Canada after he was seen on a Houlton store's surveillance video.
6-year-old Jorge Morales, who also goes by the name 'JoJo,' became the subject of an Amber Alert after going missing over the summer. He was last seen on August 27th at the home he shares with his mother, Yanet Conception, in Miami, Florida. Conception told authorities that JoJo is on the autism spectrum and often has trouble communicating.
Police have suspected that the boy has been traveling with his father, 45-year-old Jorge Morales, and his paternal grandmother, 68-year-old Lilliam Pena Morales, due to the fact that his parents were in the middle of a custody battle. According to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, that suspicion was confirmed recently when all three people were captured on surveillance video from a Walgreen's store in Houlton, Maine. Both JoJo's father and grandmother are now facing charges of custodial interference.
The FBI began looking for the trio in Maine after an abandoned SUV was found in the town of Littleton in September, which contained items believed to belong to JoJo. Because of Houlton's proximity to the border, the FBI now suspects they may have crossed over into Canada. Still, they're asking people to keep their eyes open.
Jorge 'JoJo' Morales is 3 feet tall, 50 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.
Anyone who thinks they may have seen JoJo and/or his father and grandmother is urged to contact the FBI's Miami Field Office at 754-703-2000 or call 911.
