State Police have released more details about a standoff in Eddington Sunday, including the name of the subject that kept officers at bay.

The incident began with Troopers going to the home to check on the welfare of the occupants. There's no word as to why they felt it was warranted. When they arrived, 48-year-old John Myrick refused to let them 'come in after him,' police said in a post on the department's Facebook page. He barricaded himself inside the home, creating a standoff that lasted several hours.

At around 8:30 Sunday evening, Myrick walked out of the home and was taken into custody without incident. Troopers checked out the residence and found that he had done extensive damage to the master bedroom. Myrick was arrested and charged with Creating a Police Standoff, Refusing to Submit to Arrest, Aggravated Criminal Mischief, Domestic Violence Assault, and Domestic Violence Criminal Threatening.
