New Business Comes to Closed Walgreens on Oak in Bangor

It is always welcoming to see new businesses open no matter what kind of stores they are, especially when they replace a closed business, using their shuttered building.

Welcome Dollar General to Bangor

Located where Broadway turns into Oak Street, where the once Walgreens that closed June 1, 2020, sat empty for almost 2 and a half years.

Temporary signs are up at 97 Oak at Hancock Street, so we know who is coming

And that the company is hiring, although the opening as a Dollar General date is to be determined.

Dollar General has more than 60 stores in Maine, including the Bangor area locations in Hampden, Glenburn, Old Town, Eddington, Winterport, and Milford.

Dollar General is based in Goodlettsville, Tenn., and competes with Dollar Tree and Family Dollar. Dollar Tree and Family Dollar are both owned by the same company.

The new Dollar General in Bangor will compete with Family Dollar which is literally right up the street (at the corner of State Street and Broadway)
