Newly Renovated Bangor City Hall Opens In Maine This Week, But They’ll Be Closing Earlier Starting Next Week

Next week, the doors will officially open to the public. And while the new construction and paint job will be on display for all to visit to see, there's one change that starts next week, that won't be visible to the eye.
For many years, the hours of operations at City Hall, have been 8 AM to 4:30 PM. That will all change next week, on Monday August 11th, thanks to an order the Bangor City Council recently approved to shorten that time by 15 minutes.
City Officials say the change in hours was necessary to ensure that workers at City Hall could wrap up their tasks in a timely manner, as more and more residents were waiting till the last minute to come in to conduct business.
"...the City Clerk and Treasury office has experienced a steady increase in customers arriving at the close of business, requiring staff to work overtime on a regular basis. The departmental budget does not include funding for this extra overtime. The change in hours will provide staff with 15 minutes at the end of the day to finish waiting on customers, and it’s anticipated that it will reduce the need for overtime."
Officials say they appreciate the public's understanding and patience as they implement the new change to the hours of operation. You can keep up to date on the latest information coming out of Bangor City Hall by checking out their website and their Facebook Page.
