A man from Norridgewock has been arrested in connection to a shooting that killed another man in Somerset County over the weekend.

Daniel Markey, 59, was arrested and charged with murder in the death of 38-year-old Christopher Nickerson, according to police.

The Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit was called to investigate the death of a man found at a home on the River Road in Norridgewock just before 9:30 Saturday morning (March 1st.)

Upon arrival, the officers found Nickerson's body, which was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta, where an autopsy will be conducted. Nickerson has been staying at the residence, police said.

Following an initial investigation, Markey, who resides at the home, was arrested and charged with murder.

Markey was sent to the Somerset County Jail and expected to make his first court appearance on Monday, March 3.
