They’ve Moved! ‘Not So Empty Nest’ Opens New Location In Downtown Bangor
What started in a tiny little spot on Hammond Street in Bangor, which opened on June 1st, 2016, the "Not So Empty Nest" gift shop has not only changed ownership over the past few years, but has also changed locations.
Pre-pandemic, the store's original owner, Melinda Frost, began the business from a small storefront at 624 Hammond Street, before moving the operation to a strip mall at 1209 Broadway in 2020.

The business changed hands in 2023, when Monica Conary and her mom purchased the specialty store.
Specializing in "A unique approach to gift giving that includes Artwork, Photography, Jewelry, and Up-cycled pieces!" Not So Empty Nest has been offering a mix of interesting handmade and Maine-made gifts for folks in Eastern Maine.
The business enjoyed success on the Broadway strip for several years, but just after the New Year, the pair packed up shop and moved to a new location, Downtown, in the former Out On A Whimsey storefront when that business moved into the old Rebecca's Gift show space.

They opened in their new location, 49 Main Street, this Monday.
According to the 'Not So Empty Nest' Facebook Page, they've spent the past few weeks getting things situated inside.

"It’s been like Jenga, but life-size, and things have definitely toppled over. If anyone passed by the windows and has seen me just staring into the abyss…. I’m ok ….. just planning my next move…slowly verrrrry slowly...I can feel the coziness that I’ve come to know and love from the Nest start to creep out, and I can’t tell you how excited I am about it."
They're open Monday through Friday, 10 AM to 5 PM, and from 10 AM to 4 PM on the weekends, according to their website.
Wishing them all the best of luck in their new location.
