Old Panda Garden In Bangor To Close; Selling Restaurant Contents
It's been a favorite spot for many in the Downtown Bangor area for decades. I remember going there with my step-dad on special occasions and enjoying their lunch buffet.
Located right on Franklin Street, by where Benjamins is, the food at Panda Garden was always great and the service was so friendly.
While it changed hands and its name a few years back (it's now known as Asian Garden), there's a good chance that if you've been in Bangor a while, you know of Panda Garden's reputation as a special spot in the fabric of downtown.
Sadly, that will all come to an end this week, as the restaurant will close for good.
According to the Asian Garden Facebook Page, they'll be closing to the public, Thursday, June 30.
"At the end of this month, we will no longer be at the 123 Franklin Street location. We would just like to take a moment to thank all of our customers for the generous years of patronage. We enjoyed serving you over the years!"
The post goes on to say that the owners have started to sell many of the items in the restaurant.
"Tables and chairs, dinnerware, bar and drinking glasses, coolers, ice maker, ect. are all for sale until the 30th."
I'm reminded of when another iconic Bangor restaurant, Nicky's Cruisin Diner was going to close forever, and did the same thing, selling off the contents to other business owners and nostalgic patrons.
It's not quite clear yet if there are plans to reopen in another location, but one thing is certain, Downtown will look a little different after it's gone.
